Terrorism and threat alerts sent right to your pager, phone or PDA
(works with SkyTel, AT&T, Verizon, iPhone, Nextel, PageNet, Metrocall
and other major cell phone, pager and PDA services)
The FlashNet-Terrorism Alert Service provides near instant notification to your pager, cell phone or personal digital assistant (PDA) of significant terrorist incidents and developments around the world. In order to be able to utilize the service, you need a pager, cell phone or PDA with an email address. Normal email addresses can also be used.
Alerts are sent out when a significant terrorist related event occurs. For instance, the 9-11 attack, the Bali Bombing, the Moscow theater hostage situation and the anthrax attacks in the US all resulted in alerts. Messages are also sent out for developments which may result in an immediate increased threat, such as the arrest of key al-Qaeda members, new significant threats by terrorist groups or events such as the release of an Osama bin Laden audio tape which may serve as an indicator of a possible upcoming attack.
This is not an automated news service. A watch group of intelligence and counterterrorism professionals based around the world monitors various sources of information, both primary and secondary source, for the latest developments. This information is then directly entered into the dissemination system when warranted and ultimately appears on your cell phone or pager within minutes.
Key facts:
